DraftKings daily fantasy hockey picks: December 8 lineup
High Salary D
Brent Burns-San Jose Sharks ($7,800): San Jose faces a struggling Calgary team tonight, hence the number of Sharks being highlighted as fantasy targets tonight. Burns is always a target, but carries a very high price tag for a defenseman. However, he’s scored an average of 5.5 fantasy points each time out and is coming off a one goal, one assist game against Tampa Bay on Saturday. Burns is a fairly safe bet to have a big night in Calgary, take him and save money somewhere else.
Erik Karlsson-Ottawa Senators ($7,400): When it comes to top defenseman Erik Karlsson is in the conversation every time. He fires a ton of shots at the net and has a knack for setting up his teammates. He was held without a point on Sunday, had back-to-back three-point games prior to that. He has 32 points on the year, with 26 coming by way of assists. A good matchup against Florida awaits him tonight. The price is high, but so are the points he can bring you.
High Value D
T.J. Brodie-Calgary Flames ($4,700): Just because the Calgary Flames are one of the worst teams in the league doesn’t mean that there’s not any fantasy value on the team. Defenseman T.J. Brodie has been a solid source of production from the blue line. He’s in the middle of a three-game point streak, including two assists his last time out. Brodie, although facing the tough St. Louis Blues, makes for a good speculative pick at defenseman tonight.
Shayne Gostisbehere-Philadelphia Flyers ($3,500): Gostisbehere continues to be a great fantasy value pick at defenseman. His salary keeps rising, but it’s currently still under $4,000 and a fantastic deal for the production he has put out. Gostisbehere has points in three straight games with a goal and two assists. The last time he played the Islanders he registered an assist and will look to stay hot tonight. Continue to ride Gostisbehere until his salary surpasses his production.
