4. San Diego Padres

The Padres’ 2015 offseason blew up in their face in epic fashion Manager Bud Black was fired for the Padres’ failure to even come close to playoff contention. They entered the 2015 season with high expectations after trading for outfielder Justin Upton and closer Craig Kimbrel. They will definitely consider pulling the trigger on another All-Star hitter though. While Yangervis Solarte had a respectable 2015 season, the Padres would receive much more upside in their lineup if they traded for Frazier. The Padres are still one of the weakest teams in baseball when it comes to hitting, and even a pitcher-friendly stadium like Petco Park should not stop them from considering going after a bat.

Outfielder Justin Upton is a free agent, and fellow outfielder Matt Kemp is the only power hitter that the Padres have left. Kemp showed the ability that he flashed with the Los Angeles Dodgers by hitting 23 home runs with 100 RBIs, but the team’s overall .243 batting average shows that they must upgrade. They cannot be completely dependent on their pitching staff and expect to contend for a National League West title. Trading Solarte while his value is still high enough may be the Padres’ best option if they want to pull the trigger on Frazier.
