MLB Trade Rumors: 5 places Todd Frazier might play in 2016
By Ian O'Brien
1. Texas Rangers
It took a long time, but Adrian Beltre has finally started to show his age. He is now 36 years old, and he will be 37 around the time the 2016 season starts. Although batting .287 with 18 home runs and 83 RBIs is still very respectable, this does not match up with his All-Star caliber numbers in previous seasons with the Rangers. He hit at least 30 home runs in his first three seasons with the Rangers while driving in at least 100 runs in his first two. Unless the Rangers feel sentimental and agree to give Beltre a contract for life, 2016 will be his last year in Texas since he is set to become a free agent.
The Rangers lineup is not quite as dangerous as it was during the early 2010s. Their offense helped them win two consecutive American League pennants, but they will need to reload when they can. General manager Jon Daniels has never been afraid to make big moves. His most notable move involved trading starting pitcher Edinson Volquez for outfielder Josh Hamilton, and this paid off greatly for the next several years as Hamilton became one of the most powerful hitters in baseball. There is no doubt that Daniels will at least consider trading for Beltre’s long-term replacement, and he definitely should make this move if the price is right.
