2. Becky Hammon

If the Los Angeles Lakers really want to be bold, they could hire the first ever female head coach. Now while that would bring all the attention to Los Angeles, the truth of the matter is that one day down the road, Becky Hammon will get her chance to be a head coach in this league.

There’s a reason that Hammon was hired by Gregg Popovich, and that is because he believes in her ability to be a coach in this league.

This year she showed in the summer league that she can coach, when she led the San Antonio Spurs‘ summer league team to the summer league title.

She’s also gaining important experience and should be ready to be a head coach soon, if she hasn’t already. One thing she has is the respect of her players, as she has proven it on the court in the WNBA, and as an assistant coach to date.

For all the bad coaching hires that the Los Angeles Lakers have made lately, this one could certainly be one of the good ones, as Hammon would be a great coach for the young players on the roster, and the young players they will add through the draft.

She’s going to get her chance soon. Why not be on the right side of history?
