Best: Ben Zobrist

The Chicago Cubs have done a very good job thus far of not being content with the success in 2015, while it seems like the New York Mets are not being as diligent yet. After it was thought that the Mets might end up with free agent Ben Zobrist, it ended up being the Cubs that secured his services.

With plenty of young talent, the Cubs had a great year in 2015, and look like a team that could be contending for a long while. That isn’t stopping them from trying to build on that, as they added Zobrist, who was the best bat on the market, to a four-year $56 million deal.

By getting Zobrist, the Cubs are getting a talented infield bat to add to their already potent offense, that can bring important experience to a young team that is looking to get to the next step and make the World Series as a representative of the National League.

Zobrist can make contact and occasionally hit for power. With a hard work ethic and big hits, he will immediately become a major fan favorite player at Wrigley Field.

He’s the piece that the Cubs needed, and the fact that they beat out the Mets, the team that beat them to go to the World Series, is a major move for the Cubs.
