Michelle Obama continues to be both the coolest First Lady ever, and one of the most influentially powerful as well.
Say what you will about the Obama family, but you have to admit they’re smart. Policy is something that politicians should know all about, but the hard part about politics these days is having your finger on the pulse of that all-powerful 18-40 demographic and the ever important youth millennial vote. Obama has nailed this in his time in office, but we’re starting to see over and over again that his wife Michelle might be the main reason for why Obama is so hip.
The First Lady has gone viral again, this time thanks to a rap video she shot with SNL star Jay Pharoah.
Just watch, you won’t regret it:
There’s a handful of crusty old white guys that will be upset with this; ditto for those who just finished up their afternoon lunch of paint chips and glue, but this is amazing. That one ‘news anchor’ that people share on Facebook will probably have a video about how this is supporting ISIS or something, but let’s all calm down for a second and enjoy this for what it really is.
Look, this isn’t a serious rap — but it’s a serious rap. It’s a tongue in cheek thing that is supposed to goo viral, but it also has a message that the First Lady has been preaching since the very first day Barack Obama took office, and even before that. The rhymes are funny, the video is goofy but the intent here is all real and that’s the Obama administration in a nutshell.
Not everyone will take this seriously, some will try to turn it into a negative thing, but at the heart of this is one of the reasons why Michelle Obama might be second to only Eleanor Roosevelt as the most powerful First Lady in American history.
