High Salary Defensemen

Brent Seabrook-Chicago Blackhawks ($5,700): None of the high-priced defensemen are in action tonight, so the most expensive available is Chicago’s Brent Seabrook. Most nights he would be considered a value pick, but tonight he’s in the high salary category. Seabrook has gone three games without a point, but that streak should end soon. He’s great at setting up his teammates and will look to get back on the scoresheet tonight. It won’t cost you a ton, bo roll with Seabrook tonight.

Kevin Shattenkirk-St. Louis Blues ($5,500): Shattenkirk has four points in his last three games and is a solid play for fantasy hockey tonight. He moved his streak of games with assists to three with a helper on Saturday night versus Dallas. His price is good and he can provide solid production. There are not many options at defenseman tonight, but Shattenkirk is one you should target. Colorado is ranked 19th against defenseman and makes for a good matchup.

High Value Defensemen

Alexander Edler-Vancouver Canucks ($5,000): Edler is the top blueliner for Vancouver and can be a key piece of fantasy rosters whenever he’s on the ice. His last game was Thursday against the Rangers in which he recorded a goal and an assist and nine fantasy points. Edler is still available at a good price and should be in your fantasy lineup tonight, as his average of 3.4 fantasy points is good for a defenseman. A matchup with Chicago usually proves tough, but the Blackhawks are ranked 17th against defensemen.

Jay Bouwmeester-St. Louis Blues ($3,400): Bouwmeester is usually no longer considered in fantasy hockey. However, on a night where there are not many choices, you’ll have to take a chance and reach for a few that others will overlook. Bouwmeester is one of those guys. He has just seven total points this year, but did record an assist and four fantasy points on Tuesday. If you are feeling lucky, plug Bouwmeester into your lineup.
