Round 2: Josh Doctson, WR, TCU

After addressing the need in the secondary with their early first-round pick, Baltimore can’t ignore the offensive side of the ball and their dire need on the outside to add another weapon alongside one of their picks from last year (though he didn’t play in 2015) in Breshad Perriman. There’s a chance that this player isn’t there, but a late-season injury might cause TCU Horned Frogs star receiver Josh Doctson to drop to the second round—at which point the Ravens have to jump at the opportunity to take him early in the round.

For one, Doctson is a fantastic type of player to put opposite of Perriman. Perriman’s speed and big-play ability require another receiver in the core who is able to handle the more sure-handed, possession-type of routes and catches and that’s where Doctson excels. There probably isn’t a more sure-handed and consistent pass-catcher in the 2016 draft pool than Doctson. Moreover, he has the athleticism to make incredible plays that many receivers in the league couldn’t.

Doctson does lack the size, though, to possibly withstand some of the big hits at the next level, which is another reason—along with his injury—that he might slip down draft boards. With all of the tools and skills he has and with the need in Baltimore, though, the Ravens would be fools not to take him in the second round if he’s sitting there available.
