Round 6: Jordan Walsh, OG, Iowa

There’s not a dire need in Baltimore for an offensive lineman, however, there’s no team in the NFL that couldn’t use quality interior lineman prospects given the seemingly increasing number of injuries that wreck the chemistry and effectiveness of offensive lines almost every year. In terms of prospects who fit that bill late in the draft, Iowa Hawkeyes right guard Jordan Walsh is a great place to look.

Walsh has solid size at 6-3, 290 pounds, though he would need to add a bit of bulk to fill out his length as he made the transition to the NFL. However, the bulk of his value as a draft prospect comes from the fact that he’s a lineman unafraid of engaging both at the line of scrimmage and at the second level. He’s a willing blocker who looks to make plays. While he needs to get stronger and needs to improve his overall technique, that mentality as a guard is a great attribute for a prospect.

Moreover, Walsh’s current size gives him at least the potential to move to center, depending on the needs of a team. Having that kind of versatility makes him even more of an attractive late-round prospect and Baltimore shouldn’t hesitate to snag him if he’s available in Round 6.
