Round 7: Brandon Allen, QB, Arkansas

Coming into the 2015 college football season, all signs pointed to Arkansas Razorbacks quarterback Brandon Allen going undrafted after his senior season. However, after he performed incredibly well for the Razorbacks in his final year in the program, he’s played himself into at least consideration of being selected in the 2016 NFL Draft and the Ravens would be wise to nab him.

For one, the end of the 2015 season in Baltimore is only proving how dire the need for a quality backup quarterback behind Joe Flacco is. With the starter tearing his ACL, the Ravens have been trotting out “Captain Pick-Six” Matt Schaub and Jimmy Clausen. Unsurprisingly, neither of those guys have been lighting the world on fire for the birds down the home stretch of the season.

While Baltimore would be unwise to use an early round pick on a quarterback while already having Flacco locked up, using a pick later in the draft to bring in a quarterback that can develop behind Flacco and come in if another injury situation were to arise in the future. Allen isn’t a perfect prospect, but he’s a player with talent and with upside that could serve that purpose well if they pull the trigger on him in the late rounds.
