DraftKings daily fantasy hockey picks: December 17 lineup
High Salary C
Tyler Seguin-Dallas Stars ($8,800): Seguin has been a fantasy hockey beast this season and is coming off a two-goal effort against Columbus on Tuesday night. He now has seven points in his last four games and is near the top of the league in both points (42) and goals (17). Tonight he gets Calgary, a team ranked next to last in fantasy points allowed to opposing centers. Seguin will put a dent in your salary cap, but he’s money well spent.
Joe Pavelski-San Jose Sharks ($7,500): San Jose has been struggling as of late but Pavelski has been a bright spot for the Sharks. He has 14 goals and 14 assists and picked up a goal and an assist in Montreal on Tuesday night. He has 10 points in his last 10 games and can stuff the stat sheet any night he’s on the ice. His salary is the third-highest on the board tonight, but his average of 4.3 fantasy points a game is the second-best averrable.
Jeff Carter-Los Angeles Kings ($6,600): Carter has proven to be a great fantasy play for much of this season. His salary won’t put you too far over the cap limit and he’s fourth tonight among available centers with an average of 4.1 fantasy points a game. Cater and his LA teammates get the Montreal Canadiens tonight. And though the Canadiens are one of the best teams in the Eastern Conference, they rank just 18th in fantasy points allowed to opposing centers. Carter has 11 goals and 16 assists this season and registered an assist in his last game. Nab Carter as a great play tonight.
High Value C
David Backes-St. Louis Blues ($5,500): The veteran center has been a solid producer for the Blues as well as for fantasy teams. He has scored nine goals and dished out 10 assists in 32 games and currently has a five-game point streak, a stretch in which he’s totaled six points. Backes is hot right now and although Nashville has been good against centers this year, he still makes for a great value play.
Anze Kopitar-Los Angeles Kings ($5,100): Kopitar started the season slow but is now playing some of his best hockey in recent memory. He’s got 19 points in 30 games and has registered an assist in each of his last three games. The salary of just over $5,000 is a great price for the production Kopitar is capable of. Insert him into your lineup and enjoy.
Brayden Schenn-Philadelphia Flyers ($4,100): Being the top line center for the Flyers isn’t a guaranteed spot for success, but Schenn has faired well as of late. Although he only has 15 total points, he has picked up seven of them over the last nine games. He gets a lot of time on the ice, including on the power play and, playing in Philadelphia aside, that’s a recipe for some solid production.
