High Salary W

Patrick Kane-Chicago Blackhawks ($8,700): Kane saw his 26-game point streak end on Tuesday night against Colorado. Despite that, he’s still on fire and still the most expensive winger available tonight. He has a remarkable 46 total points with 19 goals and 27 assists and has an average of 5.3 fantasy points a game. Chances are Kane will start a new streak soon and tonight looks like a safe bet. The Edmonton Oilers rank 29th in fantasy points given up to right wingers. Spend the money on Kane and find another place to save it.

Alexander Steen-St. Louis Blues ($7,100): Steen’s fantasy salary has finally crested the $7,000 mark and for good reason. He’s been hot in December and kept things rolling on Tuesday when he racked up a goal and two assists in Winnipeg. Steen is now averaging 3.9 fantasy points a game and is a smart choice considering how much cap space he will save you over some of the other top wingers tonight.

Jamie Benn-Dallas Stars ($8,400): Benn still leads the league with 20 goals and has flourished with the high octane Dallas Stars. He hasn’t scored a goal in two games but picked up an assist on Tuesday, giving him six points in four games. Dallas gets a great matchup with Calgary tonight and Benn has an opportunity to increase his lead in the goals category.

High Value W

Lee Stempniak-New Jersey Devils ($4,100): Stempniak has been a huge surprise for the Devils this season and already has 24 points through 31 games. He scored Tuesday night in Buffalo and now has points in six of his last seven games. His fantasy salary finally did cross the $4,000 threshold, but he’s still a great value play. He’s been producing at a good clip and will save you enough money to spend big at another position. Tonight’s matchup could be tough, as Florida ranks 2nd in fantasy points allowed to right wingers, but he did manage a goal against the Panthers the last time they met. Stempniak continues to be a solid fantasy pick tonight.

Teddy Purcell-Edmonton Oilers ($3,800): Purcell still carries a very low salary for a winger that can provide solid fantasy production. He’s been playing very well recently and spends time on a top-six line with two talented players- Leon Draisaitl and Taylor Hall. Purcell has benefited from that line and currently has six goals and 14 assists this year. He’s got seven points in his last five games and makes and excellent play tonight. The Blackhawks ranks 27th in fantasy points given up to right wingers.

Joffrey Lupul-Toronto Maple Leafs ($3,800): Lupul made his return on Tuesday from a lower body injury and saw just 12 minutes on the ice. He is likely being eased back into the starting lineup and should see his minutes increase in each game. Lupul has a very affordable salary right now and should start producing soon. He has 11 points in 24 games this year, not great numbers, but the potential for more is certainly there. Take him tonight against the Sharks who rank 20th in fantasy points allowed to opposing left wingers.
