Five reasons Pete Rose should never have his ban lifted
Pete Rose is a ‘professional’ liar:
After his playing days were done, an interview by NBC’s Jim Gray to Pete Rose is engraved in the minds of fans.
In 1999, Major League Baseball took time to acknowledge the All-Century Team of past greats. In this interview, you can clearly see that Rose is getting agitated because the reporter, Gray, is pushing him and hoping that he can finally break Rose’s refusal to admit that he did bet on baseball games.
Rose has repeatedly lied and while, yes, everyone deserves forgiveness when making errors in judgement, his actions appear to show that he thinks he is higher than the game and that simply because of his fantastic statistics as a player, he is owed something from Major League Baseball.
Many professional athletes of the four North American sports leagues think they are owed something because they can produce at a lightning rate.
During former Commissioner Bud Selig’s time, Selig was always blasted for being too lenient on the game’s great players who were lucky enough to play during his run as commissioner.
Some fans might believe that Major League Baseball is being a bit too tough on Rose, but you have to applaud MLB for having the guts to take a stand. They can’t seem to win when they are ‘too easy’ on the greats and let them get away with crimes but, when they take a stand, they are perhaps seen as ‘too difficult’ on the greats and forgetting the player’s abilities during the course of a season.
Newly anointed Commissioner Rob Manfred has taken a stand and you have to applaud him for cleaning up the tarnished image that people like Rose have created.
Job well done, Commissioner Manfred!
