3. The Buffalo Bills are not that far behind the other teams in the hunt.

In the lead for the AFC Wild Card right now are the Jets and Chiefs who sit at 8-5. Following them being “in the hunt” are the Pittsburgh Steelers also at 8-5 and the Oakland Raiders at 6-7, who are tied with the Bills.

So the Bills are just two games behind a Wild Card spot, and they face the Jets in Week 17 in their building, with the tiebreaker in hand.

Even better for the Bills, they can not only advance themselves, but pull down the Texans next week all in one swift motion. They even have the advantage of being the home team against J.J. Watt and the rolling Texans, who have won five of their last six games. They have that same type of “help themselves, hurt someone else” opportunity against the Jets in the final game of the season.

It may come down to the final game, but they aren’t that far behind other teams that are in the position to make the playoffs.
