1. Sammy Watkins is one of the best receivers in the NFL.

Sammy Watkins is one of the best receivers that plays in the NFL today. After just two seasons (and one has yet to be wrapped up) in the league, Watkins has totaled over 1,500 yards and averages more than 15 yards per reception.

Since the Orchard Park/Buffalo area hasn’t had a good football team in years, and they’re in a smaller market, fans around the country don’t always get a chance to see the talent tucked away in Western New York.

A huge example of this was Marshawn Lynch when he played for the Bills. The running back had over 1,000 yards in his first two seasons with Buffalo, but still, it wasn’t until he played for the Seattle Seahawks (a larger market, and more competitive team) that people saw what he was really worth.

Now, Bills fans are certainly hoping there’s not a fallout with Watkins and the city of Buffalo like there was with Lynch, but he’s being overlooked. The Chiefs did seem to realize how good he was a few weeks ago, often putting double-coverage and their best defenders on him. Still, Watkins was unstoppable, having 158 yards and two touchdown receptions on the day.

With the big-play potential Watkins, teams need to stick two defenders on him. Even then, he’s tough to contain, and leaves fans and defenders alike wondering, “how in the world did he catch that?”

If anyone is going to be the single x-factor for the Bills making the playoffs, expect it to be Watkins.
