Washington Nationals superstar Bryce Harper did a 500-pound deadlift in the gym.

Bryce Harper had his breakout season as a superstar in Major League Baseball in 2015 and won the first of what could be many MVP awards in his career. Fresh off his first MVP award, Harper is already at work on getting stronger and putting work in the gym for the upcoming season.

Harper posted a video on his Instagram account of him doing a 500-pound deadlift. A guy like Harper is a strong dude, but to lift 500 pounds in the gym is an incredible feat for anyone.

Just look at the pain and determination on the face of Harper as he lifts up the 500 pounds. It isn’t pleasant, but he knows the true value of the gains he is receiving in the gym.

This isn’t a man that is content with one MVP, he wants to win several and also bring home a World Series title to the Nationals.

There’s nothing in professional sports that can top a great work ethic, and Harper is one of those athletes that gives it his all. Lifting a bunch of weight might not translate to improving contact on the field, but it will help him maintain his tremendous power, so that he can keep launching some giant home runs.
