Temple. Tyler Matakevich. 62. player. 32.
Bruce Arians and the Arizona Cardinals front office have done a masterful job rebuilding that roster into one of the most formidable in football. Yet it’s not without its weaknesses. Inside linebacker is a position they really haven’t been able to solve since Daryl Washington pretty much ruined his career.

Kevin Minter has helped out as a blitzer but remains a problem when asked to cover or stop the run. He has 12 misses tackles and given up 315 passing yards and touchdown. It’s been so difficult that the team elected to move Deone Bucannon, a safety, to that position in order to provide more versatility. Suffice to say the unit could really use help in that area.

Arians is going to gravitate to Tyler Matakevich right away. The kid is the heart and soul of the one of the best defenses in the country at Temple. A leader on the field with outstanding awareness and reflexes, he is around the football constantly. He can blitz, tackle, hit and finds ways to contribute in coverage despite limited athleticism. No defense can ever have enough leaders or high-motor players. Matakevich will fit right in.
. ILB
