Dallas Cowboys 7-round mock draft
By Randy Gurzi
Round 6: Aaron Burbridge, WR, Michigan State
Dallas has no picks in the fifth round, as they traded theirs to the Oakland Raiders for receiver Brice Butler. Their next pick comes in round six.
Michigan State wide receiver Aaron Burbridge isn’t getting a lot of praise nationally which is why a player this talented has a shot at falling to the sixth round. The senior receiver has ideal size at 6’1″ and 208 pounds and has shown off his skills during his final season in college.
After recording 29, 22 and again 29 receptions, Burbridge racked up 79 catches for 1,209 yards and seven touchdowns on the year. His average of 15 yards per catch is impressive as well, and his play should be able to translate to the NFL.
For Dallas, they have had several issues at the wide receiver position, much of which was truly exposed when star receiver Dez Bryant went down with a broken bone in his foot. During the games Bryant missed no one stood out as a player ready to take the lead.
Perhaps Burbridge never becomes a number one receiver in the NFL, but Dallas needs help in this position and after just two seasons, it seems clear that Devin Street is not a very good receiver and can use some serious competition for his spot.
The Cowboys traded their 7th round selection to the Seattle Seahawks for running back Christine Michael, who is no longer on the team. That makes their selection in the sixth round their final one.
