Denver Broncos 7-round mock draft
4th Round – Pick #124
One position that is flying under the radar in Denver is the tight end spot, where there is not much production. The team signed Owen Daniels to provide some punch and traded for Vernon Davis during the season, but neither are what you would call impact players at this point in their careers. Denver needs to get something going and preferably a younger player into the mix. Enter its fourth-round pick, Braxton Deaver out of the University of Duke. Deaver is a mountain of a man at 6-foot-5 and 240 pounds and could provide something as both a blocker and a pass-catcher.
If Osweiler is going to succeed with this team, he needs to have weapons close to the line of scrimmage. Even going back to his college tape, Osweiler was never much in terms of accuracy, throwing way too many passes high and wide. Deaver gives him a nice big target in range that can make a play or two after the catch. In reality, Deaver is likely the kind of player who slots into a nice secondary role in the offense, but he has the upside and tools to perhaps be more than that for the Broncos.
