7th Round – Pick #194
In the seventh round, Denver has three picks and should use one on a receiver. Behind Sanders and Thomas, there is little depth and/or talent. If UCLA’s Jordan Payton is on the board, he would be a nice pick. Look for Payton to give you reliable hands and a solid player on special teams as he learns the offense. Denver could certainly do worse here.
7th Round – Pick #206
Matt Romando out of New Mexico State is a defensive run-stuffer who could prove to be a nice steal or someone. Romando is 315 pounds but could bulk up if needed to play nose tackle. Denver is in the first year of its 3-4 alignment under defensive coordinator Wade Phillips but does not have a true nose. Romando could make up for the lack of athleticism by being a big body that commands a double-team.
7th Round – Pick #218
With Osweiler becoming the starting quarterback and Manning headed to pasture, this is a good time for Denver to backfill the position with another youngster that can start on the practice squad. Massachusetts’ Blake Frohnapfel is a big guy who needs plenty of seasoning, but could be a nice sleeper late.
