A Derrick Rose miss and a Joakim Noah tip resulted in the ball getting stuck on the back of the rim

The Chicago Bulls played a brutal quadruple-overtime game on Friday night, but were right back in action on Saturday in a matchup with the New York Knicks. The score through the first half was telling of how zapped the Bulls were, but the defining moment of their tired performance came off of a Joakim Noah tip-in attempt early in the third quarter.

Derrick Rose drove down the middle of the lane and tried to get a floater to fall. Instead, it clanked off the rim and fell to the right of the basket where Noah was waiting to get the rebound and get up a quick tip-in attempt. However, that tip-in went awry as the ball went up on the back of the rim and just stayed there:

Noah probably saw that going a little differently in his mind.

Though he probably couldn’t replicate that if he tried, it’s pretty indicative of just how gassed the Bulls have looked in this game. The ball getting stuck on the back of the rim may not have anything at all to do with tired legs, but it’s one of those things that’s just so wonky that it feels like it’d only happen in a situation like this.
