Indianapolis Colts 7-round mock draft
By Randy Gurzi
Round 5. Eric Murray, CB, Minnesota
Again the Colts return to the defensive side of the ball, where they have been atrocious in recent years. With later picks in the draft, teams have to look for players who aren’t in the spotlight but can find a niche in the NFL.
One such player is Minnesota cornerback Eric Murray, who is a well-rounded corner, but doesn’t jump out as being special in any one area. Still, he may be able to find a role early due to his outstanding special teams play.
While helping out on that unit, coaches can work with him on rounding out his game. In his four-year career at Minnesota he has 190 tackles with one sack and two interceptions.
Despite not creating many turnovers through interceptions, Murray does have three forced fumbles in his collegiate career while also deflecting 23 passes.
At 6 foot tall and right at 200 pounds, Murray has the size and the tools needed to be a solid NFL corner.
Their sixth round pick was sent to the Oakland Raiders for linebacker Sio Moore, so their next pick comes in the final round of the draft.
