Round 7. Terrance Smith, LB, Florida State

Another attempt to find someone to help this ailing defense, the Colts take Florida State linebacker Terrance Smith with their final selection. The 6’3″ 230-pound linebacker would fit nicely in the middle of a 3-4 defense and has excellent speed for his size and position.

Smith, like Murray, could serve as a good special teams player while learning his role in the NFL. Also like Murray he would have a real chance to turn into a contributor on the field as well.

207 tackles, four sacks and three career interceptions at FSU shows he is a playmaker. This season may have hurt his draft stock some, due to injuries forcing him to miss time.

Still, he is one season removed from an 86 tackle, two interception season for the Seminoles. If he does last until round seven, this could be one of the steals of the draft.
