Sacramento Kings

With the slide to the bottom of the Western Conference underway, it is time for the DeMarcus Cousins and George Karl marriage to cease and desist. The easiest thing to do would be for the Sacramento Kings to part ways with a Hall of Fame level coach. What is best for the Kings is to trade their all-star center for a veteran frontcourt player and some young talent. Whatever they currently have in Sacramento is not working.

On the Kings’ wish list should be harmony.

Imagine how far a true meeting of the minds would go inside of the Kings’ locker room? Neither Cousins or Karl deserves to be a casualty here. It is just inevitable that these two will be separated. Cousins was angry when the Kings fired then-head coach Michael Malone without consulting with him. How often does a team fire their coach without getting any feedback from its best player? That is what Sacramento did.

It would not be shocking if the front office believed that Malone was not a “point-A to point-B” coach, and that a coach with the resume of George Karl would be able to reach Cousins. They have been wrong.

The good news is that there is still some time for the two of them to have a talk in an effort to sort out their differences. It is too soon to give up on the Cousins and Karl pairing.
