Utah Jazz

Can the Utah Jazz make the playoffs?

They can and they need to. The Jazz making the playoffs this season is the only thing that would justify carrying on with the current youth movement. It is the same movement that has been going on for about five years. The Jazz as a franchise needs to make the playoffs. It would create the confidence suggesting that they are going in the right direction. The players on the team need to make the playoffs so they could get the necessary experience behind them.

This Utah Jazz can be a really good team. They just have to continue to grow.

On paper there are a bevy of names a casual NBA fan will not recognize. How many people know who Derrick Favors is? How about Rudy Gobert? They are the athletic frontcourt of the Jazz.

Most of the teams in the league have changed how structure their teams. In a form of copycat, teams are trying to emulate what the Golden State Warriors are doing – they are going with small ball. Utah is going with athletic players who can defend, score and shoot, all in that order. Both Favors and Gobert a fringe all-star candidates while defending and scoring. All the while Gordon Hayward is quietly putting together the best season of his career and is shooting the three-ball well.

To answer the opening question, the Utah Jazz can quietly make the playoffs.
