Fourth Round: Sterling Shepard: Wide Receiver, Oklahoma

Just because Jacksonville already has a strong receiving game doesn’t mean they shouldn’t look there again in 2016. Going with a wideout like Sterling Shepard out of the University of Oklahoma in the fourth round could stand as right receiver fit for quarterback Blake Bortles and the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Shepard will play in huge games as his Oklahoma Sooners are the No. 4 seed in the 2015 College Football Playoff. He is the go-to receiver for former walk-on quarterback Baker Mayfield in Norman and has this certain football savvy that offensive coordinator Greg Olson will love.

It would serve general manager David Caldwell to bring in at least one more young wide receiver to intensify an already competitive unit. He’s done well with selecting wideouts, so why not continue to find value at the position in the middle rounds?

Shepard is both a strong possession receiver as well as a great playmaker in his own right. He could become another favorite target for Bortles and the Jaguars could become the most ferocious passing attack in football in as little as two years. The pieces are coming together in the passing game at EverBank Field and going with Shepard out of Oklahoma in the fourth round seems like a low-risk, high reward type of selection the Jaguars could make.
