1) Chris Davis – Houston Astros

This signing would be the highlight of the offseason. Chris Davis in Houston would be “popcorn worthy.” If you think Chris Carter hit some mammoth shots there, Davis would be even better. As I mentioned earlier, the Astros didn’t lack offense most of the year last year, but adding Davis to an offense that is already really good would be fun for all.

While the Astros do have Evan Gattis currently slated as their designated hitter and Jon Singleton seems to be the guy for the first base job, a signing of Chris Davis would allow for them to be able to make a trade for some starting pitching with either Singleton or Gattis.

The sneaky thing that not many are noticing about Davis is that he’s not just a home run guy. He also does have a good ability to get on base despite his 31.0% strikeout rate, as Davis has a .330 OBP for his career, and in 2015 his OBP was .361 two years after having a .370 OBP in 2013.

Yes, Davis is a huge strikeout risk, but the Astros made clear that they were not worried about that with their team last year. Davis would be an absolute upgrade for a team that is on the upswing, and if the Astros are serious about getting better in the now, this deal needs to happen.
