Following one of the more controversial games of the NFL season, Ron Rivera offered an apology to Tom Coughlin.

The game that everyone was looking forward to this past Sunday featured the undefeated Carolina Panthers going on the road to take on the New York Giants, a game which did not disappoint. While the game was memorable, though, it will more than likely be remembered for all the wrong reasons, thanks to the actions of Odell Beckham Jr. and the reported actions of some Panthers players prior to the game.

Yes, as as well know by now, Beckham basically turned the game into a street fight and reportedly some Panthers playing were taunting the Giants wide receiver in pregame with gay slurs and baseball bats. The events surrounding this game have turned into something that you probably couldn’t write a Hollywood script about, and now we have something new to talk about, thanks to Panthers head man Ron Rivera.

Thanks to the people at NFL Films and their trusty microphones, we now have audio of the post-game handshake between Rivera and Tom Coughlin in which the Panthers head coach apologizes to Coughlin for the actions of his players, and Coughlin responds with “hell of a game.”

While Rivera wants his players to act like themselves, something he has already stated this season, you know that he did not condone some of what went down on that field Sunday. With that being said, you have to admire the way in which he walked up to one of the most respected coaches in the NFL and offered up this apology.
