Round 3: Alex Collins, RB (Arkansas)

If there’s one thing that can definitively be said about the Giants in the 2015 NFL season, it’s the fact that their run game was near nonexistent. The bulk of their offensive work came courtesy of Eli Manning dropping back and throwing the ball. To try and relieve some of the pressure off of Eli in the coming years, you have to expect that New York will look to add a running back in the draft and Arkansas Razorbacks star Alex Collins is a fantastic place to look.

Collins has gotten at least 190 carries in each of the last three seasons with the Razorbacks and has amassed over 1,000 yards in each of those campaigns. Even more to his credit, his production in terms of scoring has ramped up notably from year-to-year as he scored only four times on the ground in 2013 and found the end zone 17 times in the 2015 season.

The Arkansas running back could stand to round out his abilities offensively as he’s not much of a pass-catcher (or at least wasn’t with the Razorbacks), but there’s no getting around his ability to power through with a strong lower-body on the ground. For a Giants team in need of an effective runner to aid Manning in the offense, Collins would be a great value to do just that in the third round.
