Round 7: Pick One—Kevin Peterson, CB (Oklahoma State)

Double dipping in the draft in terms of cornerbacks, the need in Miami to improve the secondary has to be addressed beyond just one early-round pick. Subsequently, looking at a prospect like Kevin Peterson from the Oklahoma State Cowboys seems like a great option.

Peterson has solid size and great length for his size that could suit him well in the NFL, as does his footwork. His overall technique in coverage undoubtedly needs work to help him compensate for less-than-average speed, but he’s an intriguing prospect that the Dolphins would benefit from rostering.

Pick Two—Jake Coker, QB (Alabama)

The idea of Alabama Crimson Tide quarterback Jake Coker ever being taken in the NFL Draft would’ve seemed absurd at the start of the season. However, with the way he’s progressed over this season, it’s hard to argue with his physical tools and the body of work he’s put forth. He’s a fearless, aggressive player at quarterback with solid mobility and the ability to throw the deep ball.

The Dolphins don’t have a pressing need at quarterback, but they could certainly use a usable piece behind Ryan Tannehill, who is still showing troublesome signs this season. Coker is a great option to take a flyer on with the Dolphins’ final pick.
