Round 4- OL Jason Spriggs, Indiana

The offensive line of the Jets continues to age but the acquisition of James Carpenter has paid off well. Aside from the usual veteran starters around him, the Jets need to start developing more players that could learn from them all to eventually be their future replacements. The value of a good offensive lineman always yields great results thanks to being able to protect the quarterback as well as setup the right gaps to establish the run.

That’s why the Jets will shore up their offensive line even further by drafting offensive tackle Jason Spriggs in Round 4 of the draft. He’s better suited as a right or left tackle and could very well be a hidden gem in this year’s draft. He fits in well with the Jets thanks to his size at 6’7 and 305 pounds. With his specialization as a very good run blocker, he would be an ideal draft pick thanks to the Jets wanting to continue with their ground and pound offense in 2016.

Spriggs also has very good pass protection skills that would be even further developed once he transitions into the NFL. His skill-set of being able to keep opposing defenders at bay and be a consistent starter should boost his draft stock nicely. He’s also got a good quickness about him to keep up with even the fastest defenders coming his way.

Considering that offensive tackle D’Brickashaw Ferguson is getting up there in age at 32 years old and not too much quality depth behind him, Spriggs would definitely be able to work his way up the ladder and be able to contribute over time. He has everything that it takes to be successful and much more with the Jets.
