QB- Robert Griffin III

The one person who may not be enjoying the Washington Redskins NFC East division title run this season is Robert Griffin III. Coming into the league in 2012, it was a debate full of pipping hot takes as to whether RGIII or Andrew Luck was the QB to go with. Both took the league by storm and made playoffs in their rookie season, however Luck has become the star and RGIII has found himself on the bench.

Instead of RGIII leading the Redskins this year, Kirk Cousins, who was also drafted in 2012, has lead the team and RGIII has found himself as the third string QB.

The issue with trading RGIII is his contract for next season. He has a $16.1 million option for next season, which is a team option. The Redskins could choose to pick it up and re-negotiate if they want to, or a team could simply pick him up as a free agent if the Redskins just out and out cut him.

Griffin needs to be in a system that will let him use his skills. He’s not as big as Cam Newton and may not be as smart a player as Russell Wilson, but RG III still has ability. He just needs to be in a system that will use all of his skills and not have him be a pure pocket passer.

Griffin will no doubt have a new home next season. It’s just a matter of how he will get there.
