High Salary D

Brent Burns-San Jose Sharks ($8,000): Burns continues to carry the price tag of a winger or a center. As a defenseman, his average of 5.5 fantasy points a game is actually the highest of any player available tonight. You can hardly go wrong in deploying Burns. Sure, it will cause you to take a huge cap hit, but he has proven his worth time and time again. He headed into the holiday break with a three-point game on December 22 and now has 31 points in 34 games. Take Burns and expect him to get his name on the scoresheet once again.

John Carlson-Washington Capitals ($6,800): Carlson has been a fantasy beast lately with points in seven of his last eight games. He’s been a big part of Washington’s recent success and deserves a spot on fantasy lineups each night he plays. He’s got an average of 4.2 fantasy points a game and a price that’s still below $7,000. Carlson makes for a great target for fantasy lineups tonight.

High Value D

Keith Yandle-New York Rangers ($4,600): Yandle has just 19 total points this season but can still be useful for fantasy lineups on a matchup basis. He does have two assists in his last three games and faces Nashville tonight, a team ranked 26th against defensemen. Take Yandle at a good price and take advantage of the matchup.

Dan Boyle-New York Rangers ($3,900): If you are really running low on cap space you can look in the direction of another Ranger defenseman. Dan Boyle is cheaper than Yandle and has been playing very well as of late. Boyle has points in three straight games and seven points in his last eight games. Boyle, like his New York teammate, also makes for a great sleeper pick tonight.
