Tennessee Titans

Grade: C-

What went right: Marcus Mariota showed that he has some talent and could possibly be the answer for the next 10 years in Nashville. Mariota was able to throw for 2,818 yards and 19 touchdowns versus only 10 interceptions. While the numbers are not overwhelming, they are solid when you think about the type of talent the youngster is surrounded by. Look for Mariota to improve nicely in his second season.

What went wrong: Head coach Ken Whisenhunt was fired midway through the season, and it leaves a bunch of questions as to why Whisenhunt was not canned in the offseason. Mike Mularkey took the team over to finish out the season, but this group had no identity. When you have a young quarterback who needs support, the coaching staff has to be competent and consistent. This was a major black mark on the year.

Offseason expectations: Outside of tight end Delanie Walker, the offensive weapons are just not here. Tennessee has to be aware of the issue and surround Mariota with some receivers who can separate and give him open targets. Also, the defense has been nothing to write home about. The Titans need to upgrade the secondary and give some help to a front seven that has some players in Jurrell Casey and Brian Orakpo.
