13. player. 50.
The Detroit Lions took a major step back in Jim Caldwell’s second year with the team. After losing Ndamukong Suh and Nick Fairley in free agency, the defense lost the strength and luster it relied on to win games. On offense, Matthew Stafford had a rocky start to the season and even spent some time on the bench. After some coaching changes though, Stafford and the team rebounded and have won five of their last seven. Offensive coordinator Jim Bob Cooter deserves a lot of credit for that rebound, but the defense is still looking for playmakers.

With the 13th overall pick, I expect Detroit to look at fixing their defense, primarily their pass rush. Something they used to dominate, the pass rush minus Ezekiel Ansah has been bleak. Ansah has accounted for over 35% of the Detroit Lion’s sacks this year, so getting someone coming off the other end would be a smart move. DeForest Buckner from Oregon will come in and make a big difference for this Detroit team.

He’s a monster at 6’7 and totaled 9.5 sacks for the Ducks this year. Also impressive were his 16 tackles for loss. Detroit gets a great value pick with Buckner at 13 and starts a much needed rebuild on defense.

Previous Pick: Vernon Hargreaves, CB
. Defensive End. Oregon. DeForest Buckner
