36.
Robert Nkemdiche’s fall finally ends with the Seattle Seahawks taking a calculated risk late in the first round. A guy with first-overall pick potential, the off-field questions are just too big right now. Nkemdiche was arrested earlier this month after taking hallucinative marijuana and falling out of a hotel window. His brother, who also plays for Ole Miss, was admitted to ICU after taking a similar substance. These days NFL executives are very cautious, especially when it comes to first round picks.

On the field, Nkemdiche is a dominating defensive tackle. Seattle could possibly lose both their starters at defensive tackle (Brandon Mebane and Ahtyba Rubin) to free agency so drafting well is a key if they want to sustain their dominance on defense.

They can hold on drafting offense, as Russell Wilson continues to prove his doubters wrong again and again. If Marshawn Lynch decides to hang it up, Thomas Rawls has shown enough flashes they can give him a chance to start. Wilson has shown he can generate a passing game without star wide receivers, so there’s no need to waste a pick on one of those here. It’s all about keeping that defense strong and getting Nkemdiche this late is an absolute steal. Just as long as he stays away from the funny grass.

Previous Pick: Jonathan Bullard, DE
.
