2. Hue Jackson
It can be argued that the Cincinnati Bengals offensive coordinator should still be a head coach right now, but the Oakland Raiders fired him even after he led them to an 8-8 record in 2011. Jackson was forced to move back to square one when the Bengals hired him as their secondary coach, but he worked his way up through the organization and was promoted to offensive coordinator in 2014. He has worked wonders with the Bengals offense since, and they possess one of the most dangerous rushing attacks in the NFL.
Jeremy Hill and Giovani Bernard lead a balanced rush offense for the Bengals, and quarterback Andy Dalton enjoyed the best season of his career before an injury ended his regular season. Tight end Tyler Eifert also became a Pro Bowl-caliber player in his third NFL season. The Bengals rank fourth in scoring offense with 26.3 points per game. Jackson is sure to draw plenty of interest as a head coaching candidate.
The Eagles would surely benefit from his ability to coach up running backs. Chip Kelly excelled at this before misusing DeMarco Murray and Ryan Mathews. Jackson’s previous experience as a head coach should make the Eagles consider hiring him.
