There are reports that the Cleveland Browns are going to be firing general manager Ray Farmer. However, there are also rumblings that the team will keep head coach Mike Pettine. There is absolutely no way that Pettine is staying in his post after this awful three-win season if owner Jimmy Haslam wants any chance of hiring somebody respectable in the general manager chair.

Pettine had a good year during his first campaign in 2014, despite having very little talent to work with. Pettine led the Browns to a 7-9 record, which is basically going 16-0 with a Super Bowl run for any other organization. The BRowns have saddled Pettine with horrendous draft choices and a quarterback who cant’ figure out how to stay off the social media platforms.

Even with all that said, Cleveland is probably going to move on from Pettine, who watched this team circle the drain in a big way in 2015. The Browns were supposed to be something decent this year with a revamped receiving corps, but it has not worked out in any way, shape or form.

Plus, this is Cleveland. That franchise can’t help itself. The Browns are going to fire Petine because it is in their DNA. The bottom line is that if Farmer goes, the new general manager won’t want to tie his fate to a coach coming off a three-win season. Pettine will be gone.
