5. Jimbo Fisher, Florida State

The Seminole head coach is no stranger to rumors about his coaching future even though he’s locked into a big money contract at FSU. The deep pockets at Florida State won’t matter if the right NFL owner sets their sights on Fisher though.

There’s a lot to like about Jimbo from an NFL perspective as well. He’s used to managing top-end talent and he’s got a solid track record of churning out big time NFL prospects. His tutelage of Jameis Winston might be his best work and so far, he’s surpassing most people’s expectations for Tampa Bay. Fisher deserves a lot of credit for the quarterback’s on-field maturation.

Most importantly, he’s got the type of extensive offensive pedigree that most NFL owners are looking for. He went from one of the college game’s most respected coordinators at LSU to one of the foremost offensive head coaches in the game at Florida State. He’s not a one-year-wonder, he’s got a proven track record of offensive success.

Fisher also has the “it” factor that NFL owners desperately crave. He’s used to handling high-profile situations at Florida State and has always managed to do so while supporting his players. It’s a good bet that he wouldn’t experience the difficulty in the locker room that Chip Kelly endured. He’s a player’s coach and one day soon it might land him in an NFL locker room.
