5. Jeff Fisher
The Tennessee Titans gave Jeff Fisher a long tenure, coaching portions of 17 seasons with the franchise. Fisher came on board in 1994 when the team was the Houston Oilers, and reached the playoffs in six seasons while there. Fisher got Tennessee to the Super Bowl in 1999, falling a foot short of sending the game into overtime.
So, only six playoff appearances in 17 seasons. Fisher should have been canned years before he actually was, right? Well, the Titans never gave him a ton to work with outside of the late 90s and early 2000s, and that is when the bulk of the playoff appearances came. Fisher always seemed to have almost no weapons and a defense held together with glue.
By the way, the Titans have been an utter disaster since moving on from him in 2010. The franchise is about to have its second top-two pick in a row, and is currently on its third coach since firing Fisher. Other than that, things are going great. Fisher is an old-school coach that wears down some of his players with those tactics, but he has 168 career wins to his name.
The Titans could point to those lackluster times under Fisher, but they can see where they are now and realize it was a mistake to let him go.
