5. Houston Texans

The Houston Texans can still lose in Week 17 and make it into the postseason. And though the notion of Brian Hoyer starting at quarterback is far more comforting than the idea of Jimmy Clausen holding that position, I still think there is a good chance that the Texans fall to the Jacksonville Jaguars in their regular season finale and finish the season 8-8. After all, would fans really expect the AFC South to end any other way?

There’s no doubt that the Texans have been quite solid as of late, particularly on the defensive side of the ball. Against two other AFC South opponents over the past two weeks, Houston has allowed a mere 16 points combined. That being said, they haven’t faced a team with the offensive capabilities or the explosiveness of the Jags.

While Jacksonville is certainly a team prone to making their share of mistakes, Blake Bortles and company have also shown the propensity for making huge plays and putting big numbers on the board. Even against a quality defense like Houston’s I think they are capable of that. If that does indeed happen in Week 17, I don’t think even Hoyer can have the Texans keeping up with that pace.
