DraftKings daily picks: Fantasy hockey lineup- January 3
High Salary W
Patrick Kane-Chicago Blackhawks ($8,800): Kane has both the highest salary and highest average of fantasy points (5.4) among everyone tonight. Kane leads the NHL with 56 points and sits in second with 23 goals. He has had identical stat lines in his last two games with one goal and two assists. Those six points in just two games illustrate exactly what Kane is capable of doing- producing a ton of points in a short period of time. Figure out a way to make him fit into your lineup tonight.
Jamie Benn-Dallas Stars ($8,600): It’s nothing new when it comes to Benn. You know what you are getting with him and you’re normally alright with paying the high price to use him. He was kept off the scoresheet Saturday night but still leads the NHL with 24 goals and he is second with 52 points. He just had a seven-game point streak snapped but will look to start a new tonight against New York.
Patrick Sharp-Dallas Stars ($6,800): Sharp is having a fantastic year with the Stars but he’s been overshadowed by the success of some of his teammates. He has been a fantasy stud lately and currently has an eight-game point streak with 11 points over that span, including five goals. One of those goals came Saturday night against New Jersey. Sharp is the cheaper option of the big guns on the Stars, yet he will still be able to produce just fine. Make him a top priority for your lineup tonight.
High Value W
Nino Niederreiter-Minnesota Wild ($3,700): Aside from having one of the best names in hockey, Niederreiter has proven useful lately to fantasy lineups. He’s riding a three-game point streak after dishing out an assist on Saturday night and has seven points over the last six games. If you plan on taking some of the big names tonight you’ll have to save money in other places. Niederreiter is one of the better value picks available tonight.
Teuvo Teravainen-Chicago Blackhawks ($4,200): Teravainen has put up solid numbers on a good Chicago team this year. The young winger has eight goals and 11 assists through 35 games. He’s been inconsistent, going through long stretches of pointless games as well as being able to put up points in bunches. He currently has a two-game point streak with three assists in those games. A very favorable matchup with Ottawa, a team ranked 27th in points allowed to left wingers, makes Teravainen a great target.
Jaromir Jagr-Florida Panthers ($5,500): The veteran winger is still proving he’s got what it takes to skate in the NHL. He’s having a resurgence and was voted to this year’s all-star team. Jagr is very valuable to fantasy lineups and has an average of 2.8 fantasy points a game. With four points in his last five games Jagr is still getting it done. A decent matchup with Minnesota awaits him tonight, so trust the veteran for your lineup.
