High Value PG

Goran Dragic-Miami Heat (5,900): Before we get to the backups and fill-ins, don’t overlook Dragic who has been on quite a roll lately for Miami after a rough start to the season.  Dragic has at least 15 points in four of his last five games and has at least 20 fantasy points in eight of his last nine including over 25 fantasy points in each of his last three games.  Yesterday, he had 18 points, five assists, two boards, and at steal in the Heat’s easy win in Washington, and he’ll need to be fired up and at his best as the Heat play their third game in four nights as the host the Pacers. ∗∗∗

Ishmael Smith-Philadelphia 76ers (5,700): Smith started his second tenure in Philadelphia with a pair of monster games in Utah and Sacramento with over 40 fantasy points in each of those games.  He came back to earth in his two games in LA, though, with just 15.3 and 20.2 fantasy points in those two contests.  Tonight, he’ll make his first start at home for the Sixers, and I think he’ll bounce back in a big way as he takes on the T-Wolves who allow the fifth-most fantasy points to opposing PG.

Shane Larkin-Brooklyn Nets (4,500): Larkin has a huge opportunity after the injury to Jarrett Jack.  He’s not in a great matchup tonight, though, against a stingy Boston backcourt.  Larkin has shown flashes of productivity in the past, but he has been less-than-impressive lately averaging just 3.5 points, 2.7 rebounds, and 4.8 assists in his last six games.  He has potential to produce, but since I don’t love the matchup and think he’ll be over-owned I’m not all in on Larkin for this evening’s game.

Mario Chalmers-Memphis Grizzlies (4,200): If we get some clarity on the Mike Conley situation before tip-off of the early games, Chalmers is actually the spot starter that I would have the most confidence in headed into tonight’s games.  Chalmers had a down game on Saturday, but has back-t0-back games with 25 fantasy points before that against the Lakers and Heat.  Tonight, if Conley is out, Chalmers would be the only creative point guard the Grizz would have and would get a ton of time at the point against a beatable Blazers defense.  He has the potential to be a great buy, and I think he’s usable at this price even if Conley plays but is limited. With Conley-, Without Conley-

Patrick Mills-San Antonio Spurs (3,800): Another great value play tonight will be Patty Mills who should get the start in place of the ailing Tony Parker.  Mills hasn’t played over 24 minutes in any of his last ten games or filled up the stat sheet lately, but with Parker already ruled out tonight against the Bucks, I expect Mills to get plenty of run at the point in a spot start tonight. With all the extra minutes coming his way, I feel like Mills will almost certainly at least return value tonight which is why he gets four-stars in this one-night-only situation.
