21. player. 55.
The Pittsburgh Steelers came into 2015 with most thinking that their defense would be their downfall, but actually over performed in terms of their talent on that side of the ball. However, that’s not something they should bank on happening moving forward.

In the interest of not banking on the defense playing over their heads, the Steelers will need to address one of their biggest holes defensively, specifically in the back of their secondary at strong safety. In their position, there’s no better player available to do that than Clemson Tigers safety Jayron Kearse.

The physical tools with Kearse are simply staggering. At 6-4, his height and length make him a nightmare at the back end of coverages as he simply can out-height most receivers at any level and break up plays many other defensive backs couldn’t dream of having an effect on. Moreover, he has blinding speed for a guy his size and, even though he’s still in need of bulking up, his speed and size already allow him to lay a wallop on an opponent when he gets a head of steam.

Kearse is a special talent in this draft class, though he does need work in terms of his mechanics at the back of a secondary. That being said, his mentality and ability as a potential playmaking safety seems to fit right into the Steelers mold and makes him the natural pick here.
. S. Clemson. Jayron Kearse
