Last season the Tampa Bay Buccaneers were the worst team in the NFL, earning them the No. 1 pick in the draft. Following their loss to the Carolina Panthers on Sunday, they finished this regular season at 6-10 which, while not a record that’s completely astounding, is still a vast improvement.

For the most part, rookie quarterback Jameis Winston showed that he was more than deserving of being selected with the top pick. As time went on this year, he proved over and over again that he was only getting better, which is nothing but a good sign for the future of this franchise. There are still some pieces they need to get on the offensive side of the ball to help him, such as a couple offensive lineman, but if they can keep building around their star, then success might not be too far away for this franchise.

It may take a few years, but the future is in fact bright for this organization with Winston and Co. It’s tough sometimes to be optimistic after a team goes 6-10 for an entire season, but in this case, you can certainly use this season to be optimistic.

Now it’s up to the front office in Tampa to make the moves necessary to keep this trend going in the right direction.
.
