Regular season grades for every NFL team
The New Orleans Saints were one of the most difficult teams to grade for the 2015 regular season. On one hand, they weren’t expected to be considerably good coming into the year considering the lack of talent on the defense and a slew of unproven weapons around Drew Brees. Given that, finishing the season 7-9 is largely this Saints team simply meeting expectations.
Moreover, this team showed tremendous prowess offensively on a number of occasions this season as Brees proved that he’s still got plenty left in the tank. Even with Mark Ingram, who was supposed to be Brees’ best friend this season, staying dinged up for most of the year and largely not taking a step forward, the Saints offense was capable of putting a big number on the scoreboard every time out.
However, their defense was just unbearably awful on a consistent basis this season, even after they fired Rob Ryan, that it’s hard to say anything too positive or grade this team too positively in terms of their regular season. The Saints by and large were a team that everyone expected them to be: a sub-par team that finished in the middle of their division. Subsequently, they get a grade that screams just below average.
