High Salary D

John Klingberg – Dallas Stars ($6,000): Klingberg isn’t an everyday name to casual hockey fans but he is having a breakout season, mainly do to his ability to dish the puck. He’s already picked up 32 assists in 41 games, good enough for third place in the NHL. He also have five goals and has a four-game point streak going with five assists over that span. He is averaging 3.3 fantasy points a game, which is great production from a blueliner. You would do well to stick Klingberg in your lineup tonight.

Mark Giordano – Calgary Flames ($6,100): There are not many high-priced defenseman options tonight, but one of the best targets available is Calgary’s Mark Giordano. He’s got an average of 3.9 fantasy points a game and has surpassed four fantasy points in four of his last five games. Giordano won’t give you a huge salary cap hit and he is proven to be a solid producer. He currently has a two-game point streak and will look to increase that tonight versus Tampa Bay.

High Value D

Matt Niskanen – Washington Capitals ($4,400): Niskanen has been the biggest beneficiary of the injury to John Carlson with a big increase in ice time. He just logged over 32 minutes in his last game and currently has points in three straight games. He won’t always be a big fantasy contributor but take advantage while he’s hot and getting the opportunities to do so. Boston hasn’t been very good against defensemen this year, making Niskanen an even better pick for tonight.

Anton Stralman – Tampa Bay Lightning ($4,700): Stralman makes for an excellent value play at defenseman tonight. He is riding a three-game point streak with four points over that stretch. As far as fantasy goes, he has earned at lease 3.5 fantasy points in each of the last three games and has twice gone over five points. He carries a good price tag for that production and is a top defenseman target.
