Five reasons the Seattle Seahawks can win Super Bowl 50
By Jason Evans
5. Russell Wilson
I guess I’m not exactly going out on a limb in saying Russell Wilson is a reason the Seahawks can win it all, but hear me out.
Wilson was not playing great football to start the season. Part of it wasn’t his fault. His line didn’t do a great job of protecting him and he also threw seven interceptions in his first nine games. If you turn the ball over, not even a team like the Seahawks can come back from that.
After week 10, it seemed to just click for the fourth-year quarterback.
Over his final seven games, Wilson threw 24 touchdown passes and just one interception. Not coincidentally, the Seahawks only lost one of those games. One of those games was against the Vikings, their opponent on Sunday. In that game, Wilson threw for 274 yards and three touchdowns in a 38-7 victory.
Wilson this year threw for more yards (4024) and touchdowns (34) than in any season throughout his career.
Wilson has always been able to make plays, and at times, the Seahawks were able to win when Wilson would give them just enough. Now, if they fall behind, he can be the reason they come back. They don’t have to go ground and pound. They can put the ball in Wilson’s hands and he has the ability to win the game for him.
Wilson’s mistake was a reason they lost last year. Now he could be the reason they win.
