2. New Orleans Saints

With Coughlin gone from the Giants, it appears Sean Payton could be on his way to fill that vacancy. If Payton goes to the Giants, which is a highly coveted position, then Coughlin to the New Orleans Saints makes complete sense. After all, the team would technically be upgrading from a coach with one Super Bowl ring to a guy with two.

Both Coughlin and Payton need a change of scenery. The latter will meet with the Saints media on Wednesday to apparently discuss his future with the club. Current speculation leans towards Payton leaving the team, so Coughlin would be both a good fit and a quick hire for the Saints.

The Saints and Giants are similar teams when it comes to the quarterback position. Eli Manning and Drew Brees are both accomplished quarterbacks, and it wouldn’t be a hard transition for either Coughlin or Brees.

Coughlin is a mastermind the Saints could use if Payton leaves town. Likewise, the expectations wouldn’t have to be lowered with Coughlin in charge. Payton laid a good foundation and Coughlin could come in and help get the Saints back to the playoffs.
