4. Physical toll of playing the game

The biggest story to overtake the NFL has been the issues of player safety and concussions. According to the report regarding Johnson stepping away, the game has taken a physical toll on him like everyone else, which has him thinking things over.

By being a wide receiver that has caught hundreds of passes in his lifetime, Johnson has been exposed to several big hits in his career, while dealing with a variety of injuries. Playing that many years in the league has already taken a toll on him and will continue to take a toll on him going forward.

There’s already been a growing trend in the league of players retiring early, so that they can walk in the future and be able to live a happy life that they can enjoy. By coming back, Johnson certainly leaves that up to more risk and punishment to his body.

It’s always going to be a physical game and these players know what they’re getting themselves into when they take the field. A player like Johnson has nothing left to prove to anyone and he can proudly say that he was one of the best ever at his position.

His career in the NFL has already taken it’s toll on him. If he isn’t sure about continuing that physical toll, then he should hang it up and be proud of everything that he has accomplished.
